...you don't just buy the present, you buy the giftwrapping.
My friend, Christine, who I haven't seen in several years is getting married at the end of the month and I am going to her wedding shower tomorrow. It was a bit disconcerting in the middle of my shopping to have a "shit I can't give it to her in a Wal-Mart bag" type moment. Alas, I have to be a grown-up. *pouty face* But Christine is a dear, dear, wonderful person who probably would have even forgiven me the walmart bag, I can't embarass her or myself in front of the other people that will be there. So. We went with some snazzy red foil-ish gift bag and very tasteful black white and grey striped paper.
And, of course, on my way out of town my boyfriend hurt my feelings. I'm sure he didn't really mean to, he was just "being a man" and I didn't have time to really talk things out so I left still angry and distracted and OOOPS I took out my passenger-side signal light on the front end. Also left a little bit of red on the neighbor's chrome bumper....it's on the back and maybe he won't notice???? Especially if my car is gone for two days???? I have liability insurance....just don't want to deal with claims over a scratch. It's on the back end...he probably won't see until he's in a parking lot or something, I dunno. I'm hoping I can find the part A) before I go home or B) the next day or two. I know, I'm being real adult about it....sue me. Not like I haven't had my share of paint scratches and dings in parking lots, apartment lots, college campus, etc. that no one claimed but OBVIOUSLY happened.
Gotta love my life.

I love my days off
I get so much done when I am not at work.
Like tomorrow. I am going to get my car looked at, mail off a beautiful leather corset and wait for a stunningly and more beautiful corset in a smaller size, do some laundry, vacuum maybe, oh, and, craft my ass off. LOL. Cuz that's what I do! I actually have a LOT of work done on the sock monkey now. He looks like the headless version with a bit less stuffing. I have done three of the main bodies for some Creepy Cute patterns to put out at the bank for Halloween and sewn them together, now it is just in the details.
I totally, on the fly, crocheted a cat in white and orange for Nimo, my friend Stewart's cat. Ok well the pattern was already written but alternating the colors was not and I totally made it up and am totally super proud. Plus, I stuffed a jingly bell in there so when Nimo plays he will be all the more likely to nom his new mini-me.
I have about 4-5 inches of the sweater dress yoke made. AND in BIG EXCITING news, I have less than 20 rows of another sailboat finished on Logan's baby blanket. Woot!

Coming up fast....
...it's the holiday season! Like, Halloween will be here in tomorrow time, and then BAM! it will be time to have Christmas presents done. I am a little overwhelmed right now! I have half of my brother's present done, and all of my mom's....but what to do for everyone else? I need to do things for 1) a beautiful little sister who is not so little anymore 2) finish the baby blanket for Logan (nephew) 3) finish a sock monkey for my aunt 4) finish my dishcloths for another aunt 5) figure out something for an uncle 6) something for another uncle 7) make a knee-length sweater dress for my cousin 8) something for Granny 9) something for Dad 10) you see where this is going, right? LOL!!!!
And that list does not include the myriad of "little stuff" for co-workers, friends, acquaintances, et. al. Nor does it include the love of my life. Cuz he needs something REALLY special. But NOT the dreaded boyfriend sweater.
I have a play-date with Amanda set for tomorrow, maybe I can crank some ideas out with her. Or maybe we'll just make some more really cute stuff....doesn't matter, it's fun either way!

Motivated!
The last couple of weeks have been a lot of changes! I finally got promoted at work, so I have a lot more responsibilities there. Buuuuuuttt....it's gonna come with some extra change for an even more awesome yarn stash, lol!
Having crochet play-dates with Amanda is putting my crafty butt into gear! I've finished some stuff and actually been productive, go me! It helps that the boyfriend has vertigo right now and can't really move or do much; therefore, he stays out of my way. :)
I've been working on creating some crocheted microbe patterns, in the same vein as the www.thinkgeek.com microbe plushies, only as amigurumi. I found a SUPER duper awesome yarn, pompadoodle by Red Heart, that makes the bestest crochet scarf. It's a little fiddly at first, working only between the pom-poms, but it works up quickly and is just so neato. I'm in love, can you tell?
I finished my beaded scarf, not the little boy sailboat blanket, and I'm really really close with the yellow sock. I finished Cherry's cotton summer hat, made a red bucket hat, and have a test crochet pig I did for one of Amanda's patterns around here somewhere. I strongly suspect my boyfriend's 3 year old put it in one of her purses, little stinker.
On the menu for the weekend: finish work (real grown-up job) today, finish up the brisket I'm taking to tonight's party. Tomorrow morning, get up, then get crackin' on finishing the stuffed fleece gorilla I owe my nephew for his birthday. Then maybe I will even do a few rows on the blanket that was supposed to be for his birthday.
Yessirree Bob, I'm gonna knock out these projects so I can do even more!

Way too many WIP
OK, I need to stay FAR AWAY from Ravelry. Srsly. I need an intervention here or something, dear God, I have way too many projects on my hooks and needles. I have a baby blanket in two colors of stranded colorwork that HAS to get finished. I started it before the baby was born, and he will be a year old next month. This is not promising here.
I have a beaded knit scarf, the Tiny Toes scarf by Interlacements yarn. This one is actually close to being done, and a good thing I started, since it has been an easy beginner project to learn how to incorporate beads. I may however, have opened up a whole new can of worms, since I am loving the beads so very much.
A sock monkey has been in progress for at least the last 3 months. I need to stop improvising my yarn. If the pattern says to use two strands of sport weight, and to change from tan to white on one strand, I need to do that, not substitute my own worsted-weight rag yarns. They may have been free to me, but it is definitely making the pattern more difficult to follow. Here's to hoping working the main body will bring it all together, huzzah!
A lace sock pattern - one sock *almost* finished. I have two more repeats of the lace, rib cuff, bind off, and then the next sock to do. It does not help that this particular yarn I am using is the most awful, sick, putrid mix of Big Bird Yellow and baby poop green. With some seafoam mixed in. Honestly, Lion Brand did not do themselves any favors here. Mom bought it for me "it was on sale!" she cried, and I cried a little on the inside when I saw it. So. It is fitting she gets the end-product from the fugly yarn, but I am tempted to try some kool-aid dye over it. Like maybe red. Or purple. Purple should just turn it all into some different shades of brown.
I started a Dia de los Muertos girl, out of Creepy Cute Crochet. It is a strange pattern to me. This is the only amigurumi I have followed that has me sl st into the starting st for the round, and I also sc into the previous sl st of the round before. It's and adjustment to say the least.
Next up: A scrap yarn tote bag. I am going to assign it to Lar, whenever I finish it, as his bag of shame to take to the grocery when he forgets something on the list. And also, for when I need to take my towel and sunblock down to the pool. And phone. And keys. And knitting. And and and...crap I may never get in the water.
An unfinished shawl is waiting to be frogged. I liked how it started, not how it is finishing. This boucle is meant to be something else.
A sweater, in crochet kinda like a big granny square. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.
And then there's a BIG pile of random yarn balls, waiting to be worked into some amigurumi. I have probably 60 or more things in my Rav queue that are just going to have to stay there until I clear a few things out, dangit!
