New Projects!

As I finish items, I am finding that I start two more...this is a disease, right?

I finished my crocheted socks, and I think they are pretty awesome. I need to take the second one to Dad, so, I'll probably do that tomorrow after I stop at Ikea and the post office. Maybe I'll even swim????

I started a little doggie sweater for Amanda's mom's new Italian Greyhound. I've never knit a doggie sweater before, so y'all wish me the best of luck. Or for that dog not to see herself if she looks uber-dorky in it.

I made baby booties and a hat for my manager's baby girl, due mid-November.

The last thing, is going to be an on-going project. I have a vision though. These little "Apiary puffs" were made in crochet homage to the knitted version, Bee Keeper's Quilt. Seeing as how I am always doing sock knitting here or there, and always have a little bit left over and no clue what to do with it, I think these will be neat stuffed and sewn together to be a throw for the couch or even eventually a bedroom blanket. So far, I have this many:

Finished objects!

I finally finished the "Fauxstess" hat I had started for my little sis last summer/fall. I really put off the I-cord and sewing it on. Niki likes it though, even if she wears it over her pony tail and has a weird conehead bump. The pattern is here Fauxstess, To the Extreme and mine looks just the same, except I made only 3 large loops in the icing rather than a lot of small ones.

I tackled two rows on the baby blanket for my nephew (he is now 2 yrs old....) yesterday.

I'm also 3/4 or more done with the parts and pieces for this guy Hound pillow toy and will just have seaming and assembly to do very soon. This was originally going to be a present for my ex, but, I had barely gotten the head started when we broke up. I think I will keep him when I'm done, to remind me that not all men are dogs, even if it feels like it sometimes.

I tore out the tomatoes that refused to fruit and started to shrivel up, and planted turnip and curly leaf lettuce a week ago. The sprouts are coming up, so I need to look up how many I can grow per square foot.

I have been told....

...That my blog needs pictures. LOL. Well, I will have to work on that bit. In the meantime, I can still type pretty well.

I sewed up that last sock, yay! I think I will stick to knitting socks, however, unless I need something really bulky. The crochet is pretty but I stand on my feet all day and I can only imagine what that stitch definition would do to the ends of my toes.

Mom helped me re-purpose something! She is NOT a super green movement type person. She'll recycle, sure, as long as she doesn't have to go *too* far out of her way. OK so that does not make her a bad person, just pretty much average. I've gotten her to start saving coffee grounds and other organics from the kitchen for a compost pile in the backyard, and we have small gardens planted in pots and buckets. Baby steps, right?

Anyway...the other day our Crock-Pot (TM) broke. The ceramic basin part has a crack ALL the way across the bottom. Well crap. What do you do? I was going to throw it out. Nope! Mom said, "Hey why don't you make it a planter. You wanted to do an herb garden, right?" Genius!!!! Four little herbs I'm waiting to sprout!

Edit: Here is a pic! The little sprouts are there for thyme and basil!

Changes

So many things have happened since my last update!

I moved back to Texas. Home life and my relationship with the SO just got to a level I considered to be un-safe so I packed all I could in my little red car and headed out. A lot of my yarn did not get to come along, only so much will fit in a Tercel, but, that's ok! Yarn can be replaced.

I STILL have that sailboat baby blanket to finish. (I know, everyone is so shocked.) The green sweater has already been finished and gifted though, and I recently began working on the puppy pillow again. I forgot I had it???? I finished the Ghost Dog pattern for MsMori. I've got a toe to sew up on my first pair of crocheted socks. I have a totebag started for my cousin. So, so many projects and always not enough time!

On Holiday

Wow! It's so awesome! My first paid vacation from work!!!! I drove down to my family in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas, and have been relaxing and catching up with them.

I have also had my sticks and hooks hard at work. I made a pair of booties for my nephew, which unfortuantely were too small. He does, however, love carrying them around. At least they are interesting to him, right? The baby blanket is still a WIP but I started the 4th row of sailboats and am 6 rows into it.

My cousin's green sweater dress needs about 4-5 more inches, and then I can put the sleeves, button band, and ribbing on.

I finished the yellow green socks from hell a week or so ago, and my twin brother has now claimed them. He also thoroughly enjoys his red Jaque Cousteau hat I made with Cascade 220 yarn. (Yes, I am still not a yarn snob. I can appreciate fine fiber but cannot justify the prices on almost all of them.)

I have several small amigurimi hearts made with various acrylic and cotton yarns, but I ran out of the stuffing that I brought so whatever I make won't be finished until I get back to Cincinnati. I particularly enjoy making them out of brown yarn, to look like chocolates. I have really BIG ones I made with fleece to be sugar glider pouches. I need to weave in the ends and I'll be ready to start vending a few before Valentine's day.

My little sister's Hostess hat is done, except for the white I-cord frosting, but I left my white yarn at home so it has to wait. I brought my puppy pillow project, but not the pattern, so it has to wait for now as well. All in all, not bad for me or nearly as forgetful as my usual self, considering that I had a 16 hour drive and almost 2 weeks to pack for in addition to a jury summons.

There is a pair of toddler socks, almost done, that I'm picking back up now....til next time folks...

You know you are turning into a real adult when....

...you don't just buy the present, you buy the giftwrapping.

My friend, Christine, who I haven't seen in several years is getting married at the end of the month and I am going to her wedding shower tomorrow. It was a bit disconcerting in the middle of my shopping to have a "shit I can't give it to her in a Wal-Mart bag" type moment. Alas, I have to be a grown-up. *pouty face* But Christine is a dear, dear, wonderful person who probably would have even forgiven me the walmart bag, I can't embarass her or myself in front of the other people that will be there. So. We went with some snazzy red foil-ish gift bag and very tasteful black white and grey striped paper.

And, of course, on my way out of town my boyfriend hurt my feelings. I'm sure he didn't really mean to, he was just "being a man" and I didn't have time to really talk things out so I left still angry and distracted and OOOPS I took out my passenger-side signal light on the front end. Also left a little bit of red on the neighbor's chrome bumper....it's on the back and maybe he won't notice???? Especially if my car is gone for two days???? I have liability insurance....just don't want to deal with claims over a scratch. It's on the back end...he probably won't see until he's in a parking lot or something, I dunno. I'm hoping I can find the part A) before I go home or B) the next day or two. I know, I'm being real adult about it....sue me. Not like I haven't had my share of paint scratches and dings in parking lots, apartment lots, college campus, etc. that no one claimed but OBVIOUSLY happened.

Gotta love my life.

I love my days off

I get so much done when I am not at work.

Like tomorrow. I am going to get my car looked at, mail off a beautiful leather corset and wait for a stunningly and more beautiful corset in a smaller size, do some laundry, vacuum maybe, oh, and, craft my ass off. LOL. Cuz that's what I do! I actually have a LOT of work done on the sock monkey now. He looks like the headless version with a bit less stuffing. I have done three of the main bodies for some Creepy Cute patterns to put out at the bank for Halloween and sewn them together, now it is just in the details.

I totally, on the fly, crocheted a cat in white and orange for Nimo, my friend Stewart's cat. Ok well the pattern was already written but alternating the colors was not and I totally made it up and am totally super proud. Plus, I stuffed a jingly bell in there so when Nimo plays he will be all the more likely to nom his new mini-me.

I have about 4-5 inches of the sweater dress yoke made. AND in BIG EXCITING news, I have less than 20 rows of another sailboat finished on Logan's baby blanket. Woot!
